A Dream of Peace Amidst Shadows of Blood
– Kandepi Rani Prasad
On a night when dark clouds swallowed the entire sky,
As the earth’s heart was torn apart by the roar of bombs,
Human dreams crumbled silently—
For whose victory? For whose defeat?
Where a child’s hand ought to hold a toy,
Now, only trembling fear remains.
At a time when a mother’s lap should cradle her child,
Now, nothing is left but the tearful agony of waiting.
How much better it would be
To kindle the light within the heart,
Rather than the glint of swords!
How wonderful it would be
If the flames of love were to spread,
Instead of the fires of nuclear war!
Who truly won?
Who truly lost?
In the end, all that remains are:
Shattered walls, broken hearts,
And a silence steeped in utter helplessness.
The day must come
When the sounds of gunfire transform into melodies,
When rivers of blood turn into showers of flowers,
And when those who once faced each other as enemies
Become friends!
