Poems of Aduri Satyavathi Devi

Poem-17

A Stream of Water

Telugu Original: Aduri Satyavathi Devi

English Translation: J Bhagyalakshmi

Someone has robbed the moisture of my tears
Tied iron buckets with words of chains
And emptied everything time and again
Someone snatched away my constant companion
Who used to be cool and gushing out time and again
Accompanying and comforting during life’s ups and downs
With pearly dew drops
With heavily laden rain clouds
Like a river of waves within
Like a boat that rocks with the weight of flowers,
That rich imagination
That created for me a little world of mine `
Some unknown robots swept it off
Someone has taken away my life’s script
That used to remind me
All the time that I am I
Which used to guide me towards
A simple shining courtyard
If that divine spring stops and my eye is not moist
When I crave for love and solace
I may become a statue of stone
And may burst out not knowing a single melody.
