Sedative Serenity

                   – Ramalakshmi Avasarala

As I closed my eyes,
I perceived the perpetual woods,
Where the sound is dumb,
Where even the taciturn,
Searches curiously for words.

Where only faint rustle of leaves,
Enunciate the presence of life,
Moonlight laying in patches
that’s busy in flickering show
With a pick-a-boo game.

My long drawn breaths
Giving a strange intro,
Trying to shy-away form the tranquility
Shrinking into itself
Like a newly-wed bride.

The stillness so intoxicated
Plundering myself from me,
Anguish decamping itself
My heart buoyed up now,
I dissolved into the night.
