4. Eighth Ocean

Discarding mountain
Parvati, Parameshwar
performing Lasya and Tandava on earth
signify green carpet is
more elegant than Kailasa.

Grass strolls not on soil
wishing the earth remains unchanged
this hue should spread so
for kilometres all around
necklaces dazzle
studded with diamonds, pearls,corals.

Like meadows ecstatic trees
akin to deer dancing in delight
peacocks spread plume while dancing
Parvati, Parameshwar
forget surroundings
confined in their romantic regime
Nature performs daily service.

Dissecting trees
boats swim in sea of soil.

Whether soil turned into sea
or sea turned into soil—
with fusion of sea and soil
earth rejoices like tide.
Fastening festoons of rain drops across ground
opening flood gates for surging stored water
spread ‘pandals’ all over the arena,
wrapped sari of water around the self.
As all canals cavort like unmarried girls
all brooks flow amorously like ladies
rivers, rivulets move majestically like elephants.
Entire land covered by water, trees, fields,
one part earth, three parts water
on this globe seven seas—three parts!
The remaining one part—sap green sea!
