DOWN TO EARTH BUT STILL ABOVE YOU
– Manasa Reddy Chichili
We are always above you
We walk on the same soul as you, yet our gaze is higher.
This is life’s endless chase-
not for happiness alone but for goals.
We carry a dream,
we hold a vision,
we live with fear,
and still we raise.
In this moment
we ask for neither more nor less.
Contentment keeps us grounded, but ambition
lifts us above.
We search and search,
and what we seek is you.
Who are you?
There is only you.
My Love
Thinking of you
Eating for you
Taking care of myself
Even when I don’t want to
You fill my dreams
Enchant them with your presence
I feel you throb in my womb
Growing everyday
My love
Please come out safe
And healthy
Standing Alone
I was a daughter
I was a wife
I was a mother
And now I’m a grandmother
A woman I’ve been
But looking back
Only now do I realize
I’ve always stood alone
EVENING AUTUMN RAIN
Evening autumn rain, light drizzling,
Sitting by the river, enjoying the cool breeze,
A lovely view, a pleasant mind,
So many thoughts in my mind.
I wrote them one by one on paper,
It became like a book, though it wasn’t a book,
It was the heart of nature,
About every flower, every leaf, colorful birds,
Teaching their own tales,
Tied by strings of fate.
**IN FLOODS**
I opened my eyes slowly.
I lay on the wet sand.
The place was full of mesh and dirt, with a bad smell.
I felt shivers, with constant drizzling.
Slowly, I sat up and observed my surroundings — I was in a new place.
Slowly, I realized I had lost my hometown.
I was stuck in the floods.
I observed around me — so many dead bodies.
Smashed boats, dead fishes, animals, things.
Now I started crying so much — I lost my family, friends, everything.
My boat drowned in the floods. I lost everybody.
Now what am I?
**WHO AM I?**
