-Kiriti Vundavilli
Why is it in our nature to drink nature bone dry
To risk our future, to plunder her to the sky
Why do we set tomorrow alight
In the name of today’s profit plight
Why does no act of green affection
Seem to slow our self-destruction
Is the answer with these old men
With their legislations and golden pens
If only the crack of nature’s whip
Could mark their faces, make them drip
In their blood we shall make bloom
Yet again, what once went boom

Kiriti is a Machine Learning Engineer, writer, musician and filmmaker. His curiosity and impatience for unanswerable questions leads him to study what he doesn’t know, and create works that potentially inspire readers to do the same. This poem is one such work written for a kindergartener.
