Spring Morning

-Manasa Reddy Chichili

The first sunlight of a spring morning
spreads across the lake
like waves of gold.

The river sparkles quietly.
The sun touches the silver ripples
and the water slowly wakes from sleep.

Golden light falls
like scattered pearls
onto the silent pond.

Ripples move outward,
traveling farther and farther
across the still water.

In the gentle light of spring
the cool stream shimmers.
Fish drift through sunbeams
like tiny dancing dreams.

Under the young sky of spring
sunlight leaps across crystal waves.
The water hums softly,
singing to itself.

At dawn
the silent lake fills
with warm golden light.
The breath of spring
moves through the air.

Inside a small jar
little hopes glow
like children’s lanterns,
trying to catch the sunlight.

With the first breath of the sun
night loosens its dark fingers.
Golden light begins
to learn the song of morning.

Sunrise comes slowly, kindly.
Night disappears without a sound.
For a moment
light simply rests
upon the world.

Leaves dance in the sunlight.
A soft breeze moves the trees’ hands.
In every quiet corner
peace begins to bloom.
